The Unity Cup, a four-nation tournament is set to return from its long hiatus of 20 years. The Unity Cup is organised by AfroSport, and features Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago in a week-long celebration of football, culture, and unity.

Nigeria and Ghana are also set to reignite their storied rivalry (Jollof Derby) at the upcoming Unity Cup 2025.

The 2025 edition will be held at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium in West London this May.

The tournament will kick off on Tuesday 27th May 2025, with Jamaica facing Trinidad & Tobago in the opening semi-final. But all eyes will be on Wednesday, 28 May, when Nigeria and Ghana clash once again in a rivalry that spans over 70 years.

Nigeria, with three AFCON titles to their name, and Ghana, with four, last met in March 2024, when Nigeria won 2-1 in a friendly.

Captain of the Super Eagles William Troost-Ekong welcomed the idea insisting “It is a great tournament for us to reunite and continue strategizing for the upcoming World Cup qualifying games.”

The NFF President Ibrahim Gusau also reiterated that the Unity Cup is “a vital opportunity for our team to bond ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.”
