Team Ogun win 4x400m mixed relay

Team Ogun were crowned champions of the 4x400m mixed relay after winning the event ahead of team Edo and Team Lagos in second and third respectively.

Team Ogun consisting of Deji Sholotan, Hafsoh Majekodunmi, Sanni Itopa and Jimoh Toheebat led from start to finish in front of a cheering home crowd.

They had qualified for the final as the second-best team in the heats race with a time of 3.23.90 behind Edo State’s 3.23.46.

Edo’s quartet of David Ahkalu, Olaniyi Ayomide, Anita Enaruna and Emmanuel Barabur were no match for Team Ogun’s pace in the final as they settled for second while Lagos State’s Benjamin Magaji, Miracle Donald, Olorunwa Olamilekan and Jane Chioma chad to settle for the bronze medal after finishing third behind Edo.

However, Chidera Ezeakor (Edo State) ran the fastest time in the men’s 100m heats to win the first heat in 10.22s.

He was followed by Akwa Ibom’s Alvin Onyeama with a time of 10.40s to win heat 5.Tokyo 2020 Olympics finalist, Enoch Adegoke of Edo State also made the men’s semi-finals with a time of 10.44s just as Favour Ashe also qualified for the final to win in his heat with a time of 10.55s.In the women’s 100m heat, Success Umukoro of Delta State was the cynosure of all eyes, as she blazed into the women’s semi-finals with a time of 11.58s.
