Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare opened his 2025/26 Belgian Jupiler League goal account on Sunday, but it was not enough to save Genk from a 2-1 away defeat to Standard Liege.
The 24-year-old Nigerian, linked with AC Milan, Atalanta and Fulham this summer, came on in the 67th minute for Jarne Steuckers and struck just three minutes later.
His 70th-minute effort proved a mere consolation as Thorsten Fink’s side suffered their second loss in three matches.
Genk sit 14th in the table with one point from three games, scoring three goals and conceding five for a minus-two goal difference.
Arokodare netted 21 times last season to finish top scorer and fire Genk into the UEFA Europa League.
He will aim to add to his tally when they visit Oud-Heverlee Leuven on Friday, August 15.
