Newly appointed Manchester United manager, Reuben Amorim is set to hold talks with Ruud van Nistelrooy over his continuity with the club amidst his impending arrival.

The Portuguese tactician who was named as head coach following the exit of Ten Haag will team up with the Old Trafford outfit after the international break and as such, Nistelrooy has been in charge of the team on an interim basis pending his official start to work.

In an interview with Laurie Whitwell via Fabrizio Romano, Ruben Amorim revealed: “Ruud van Nistelrooy is a legend of Man United. He did great job”.

“Will he stay? I’ve to talk with him in the next hours and then I will explain everything. Let’s wait”, he added.

With Ruben set to arrive in England on Monday, his official start date as Manchester United’s new head coach is contingent on obtaining a work permit.

After leading Sporting in their final match against Braga on Sunday evening, Amorim will travel to Manchester. However, due to ongoing paperwork, the 39-year-old Portuguese manager cannot officially commence his new role or begin on-field activities, as confirmed by United sources.

Meanwhile, Ruud Van Nistelrooy has kept the door open for a potential future at Manchester United, insisting that his emotional farewell from the Stretford End doesn’t necessarily signal the end of his association with the club.

The former striker concluded his four-game interim managerial stint with a 3-0 victory over Leicester City, accumulating three wins and a draw since taking over after Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.

As he left the pitch to a chorus of cheers and a standing ovation from the Stretford End, Van Nistelrooy acknowledged the possibility that it might have been his final appearance at Old Trafford.
