Rivers United will travel to Egypt on Wednesday for their CAF Champions League matchday one clash against defending champions Pyramids FC.
The team’s players and officials are scheduled to depart for Cairo via the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, after arriving in the city on Tuesday from Port Harcourt to connect their flight.
The highly anticipated encounter will take place on Saturday at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, marking Rivers United’s debut campaign in the CAF Champions League group stage.
Following their opener in Egypt, the Pride of Rivers will return home to face Moroccan heavyweights RS Berkane in a matchday two fixture slated for Friday, 28 November, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
This season represents a major milestone for Rivers United as they compete among Africa’s elite clubs for the first time, aiming to make a strong statement on the continental stage.
