Remo Stars win first NPFL title

Remo Stars have secured their status as the champions of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League with three games to spare after an exciting 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes in a match-day 35 game in Ikenne on Sunday.

A goal from second-half substitute, Olamilekan Adedayo ensured Remo Stars were crowned winners.

The win was Remo’s 21st of the season, taking them up to 68 points, and they opened up an unassailable 10-point gap ahead of Rivers United in second place with three games left to play this season.

Kano Pillars had earlier on Friday, defeated Rivers United 2-0 all thanks to goals from legends, Rabiu Alli and the captain of the Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa. Daniel Ogunmodede’s men also knew all they needed against Niger Tornadoes was just three point to guarantee them as the NPFL Champions for the first time in their history

With this feat, Remo Stars also became the first Southwest club to win the Nigerian topflight title since Julius Berger’s triumph back in 1991.
