PSG Sign Ukrainian Defender Illia Zabarnyi from Bournemouth

European champions Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the signing of Ukrainian centre-back Illia Zabarnyi from Premier League side Bournemouth.

In a statement on Tuesday, the club said: “Paris Saint-Germain are excited to welcome Illia Zabarnyi,” noting that the 22-year-old becomes the first Ukrainian player in PSG’s history.

Zabarnyi enjoyed a standout 2024–25 season in England, and his arrival at the Parc des Princes is expected to provide strong competition for Brazilian captain Marquinhos in the heart of defence.

The transfer continues a major defensive reshuffle at Bournemouth, who have now lost three of last season’s first-choice defenders — Milos Kerkez to Premier League champions Liverpool, Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid, and now Zabarnyi to PSG.
