European champions Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement with Lille to sign highly rated goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, a source close to the negotiations confirmed on Friday.
The 23-year-old, who will sign a five-year contract, is set to join for a fee of around €40 million ($46.5 million).
His arrival could raise questions over the future of Italian international Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose contract expires next year and is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League clubs.
Donnarumma was a standout performer in PSG’s 5-0 Champions League final win over Inter Milan in May, but Chevalier’s signing suggests increased competition for the No. 1 spot.
Chevalier, nominated this week for the men’s Yashin Trophy at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards, earned the recognition after a stellar campaign in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
Lille finished fifth in Ligue 1 last season, securing Europa League qualification.
