Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has revealed the emotional reasons behind his determined push to rejoin Galatasaray on a permanent basis.
The Turkish Super Lig champions made history by securing Osimhen’s transfer from Napoli for €75 million, the most expensive deal in Turkish football history.
The 26-year-old arrived in Istanbul on Wednesday night, where he was warmly welcomed by Galatasaray supporters at Ataturk Airport.
His official signing ceremony is scheduled to take place at Rams Park ahead of the club’s match against Lazio on Saturday.
Speaking to GSTV, Osimhen said his strong desire to return to Galatasaray was driven by the deep emotional bond he feels with the club, the city, and its people.
“I have a deep connection with this club, this city, these people. That’s why I fought so hard to return here,” he said.
“I continue to have that feeling, to continue playing with a purpose. I want to do what’s best for myself and the fans, and I’m really happy to be here.”
Osimhen spent last season on loan with the Istanbul giants, where he became a fan favourite and played a key role in their title-winning campaign.
