Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has spoken emotionally about his €75 million move to Galatasaray, expressing gratitude and describing the Turkish giants as the perfect place for him to thrive both on and off the pitch.

Osimhen officially became the most expensive signing in Turkish football history after Galatasaray activated his release clause at Napoli. The 26-year-old was given a hero’s welcome on Wednesday night, with thousands of fans gathering at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport and lining the streets to celebrate his arrival.

In his first official interview with the club, Osimhen shared the deep connection he feels with Galatasaray and its supporters.

“This is where I can express myself fully—through my football and with everything that I am,” he told the club’s official YouTube channel.

The Nigerian forward, who spent last season on loan at the club, said the overwhelming support he received throughout his time in Istanbul played a key role in his decision to return permanently.

He also thanked Galatasaray’s leadership for making the historic transfer possible, mentioning club president, vice president, Abdullah Bey, technical advisor George Gardi, and head coach Okan Buruk by name.

“I’m truly grateful to everyone who worked to bring me here. I came because I love this place, and I feel good here,” he added.

Osimhen was particularly moved by fans who tracked his flight in real-time and turned out in large numbers to welcome him back.

“I want to sincerely thank all the fans who followed our flight and came out to welcome me. I believe I will give my best here and show myself in the best way.”

Calling Galatasaray his “new football home,” Osimhen said he is eager to reconnect with supporters and begin this next chapter of his career.

“I can’t wait to meet the fans again. This is my home now.”

His €75 million transfer shattered the previous Turkish record, surpassing Youssef En-Nesyri’s €19.5 million move to Fenerbahçe, as well as Galatasaray’s past marquee signings Gabriel Sara (€18m), Mario Jardel (€17m), and Nicolo Zaniolo (€15m).
