Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie continued her dominance on the continent after winning the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award for the third consecutive time at the 2025 CAF Awards held in Rabat, Morocco, on Wednesday night.

Nigeria’s captain Rasheedat Ajibade narrowly missed out on her first Women’s Player of the Year crown, losing to Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak.

In the men’s category, Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi claimed the Men’s Player of the Year Award, beating Super Eagles forward and 2023 winner Victor Osimhen, as well as 2018 winner Mohamed Salah.

His victory ended Nigeria’s back-to-back run of wins by Osimhen (2023) and Ademola Lookman (2024).

Morocco, hosting the awards for the third straight year, also scooped the Young Player of the Year prizes through Doha El Madani and U-20 World Cup star Othmane Maamma.

Madani finished ahead of Nigeria’s Shakirat Moshood, who captained the Flamingos at the U-17 World Cup in Morocco.

The Super Falcons were named Women’s National Team of the Year for the third consecutive time after clinching a record-extending 10th WAFCON title in Morocco last July.

The men’s version went to World Cup–winning Morocco U-20, fresh off their historic triumph in Chile.

Nnadozie added her third consecutive goalkeeper award, topping Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini.

Morocco’s Yassine Bonou reclaimed the Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year honour from South Africa’s Ronwen Williams, finishing ahead of Williams and compatriot Munir Mohamedi of RS Berkane.

CAF Champions League winners Pyramids FC won Men’s Club of the Year, ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns and RS Berkane. Their striker Fiston Mayele was named Interclub Player of the Year after scoring nine goals in the Champions League to power Pyramids to their first title.

Cape Verde coach Bubista took home the Men’s Coach of the Year Award after leading his team to their first-ever World Cup qualification. The Women’s Coach award—featuring Nigeria’s Justine Madugu among the nominees—was not presented due to the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League.

The ceremony featured performances from Congolese veteran Awilo Longomba, alongside Douaa Lahyaoui and Fuse ODG. The highlight of the night came as Morocco swept both the women’s and men’s top player awards, with Chebbak and Hakimi receiving thunderous applause from the home crowd.

Hosted by Moroccan comedian Oualass and Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo, the event celebrated Africa’s football excellence, cultural diversity, and artistic brilliance on the continent’s biggest stage.
