Nigeria international Ola Aina has signed a new three-year contract with Nottingham Forest, committing his future to the Premier League club until June 2028.
The 28-year-old full-back initially joined Forest in July 2023 on a one-year deal after leaving Italian Serie A side Torino. He made an immediate impact in his debut season, playing a key role in the club’s successful battle against relegation.
Forest had exercised a one-year extension option in Aina’s contract in May 2024, following the club’s confirmation of Premier League survival. However, the new long-term deal now reflects Forest’s confidence in his reliability and versatility.
During the 2024–25 season, Aina operated predominantly on the right side under head coach Nuno Espírito Santo, making 37 appearances in all competitions. His contributions were instrumental in Forest’s seventh-place league finish and their run to the FA Cup semi-finals.
Since joining the club, Aina has featured 59 times, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
His contract renewal follows similar extensions for fellow defender Neco Williams and centre-back Murillo, who is now tied to the club until 2029. Manager Nuno Espírito Santo also extended his stay at the City Ground in June, signing a deal through to 2028.
A product of Chelsea’s academy, Aina made six senior appearances for the Blues before loan spells at Hull City and Torino, who he later joined permanently in 2019. He also had a loan stint at Fulham during the 2020–21 campaign.
Born in London, Aina represented England at youth level before switching international allegiance to Nigeria in 2017. He has since earned 40 caps for the Super Eagles.
