Ogunmodede to remain as Remo Stars coach

Daniel Ogunmodede, the head coach of the Remo Stars, is expected to stay in his position leading the Nigeria Premier Football League winners, as the club has confirmed that the tactician’s current contract will be extended until 2027.

Ogunmodede posted a mysterious but ominous message on his X account, virtually confirming his stay after recent rumors about his future surfaced.

The 45-year-old wrote, “Trust the process. Big announcement soon,” accompanied by his trademark signature, “IJABALL”.

According to sources close to the club, Michael Imiavan, a multimedia journalist and club insider, explained on X that Ogunmodede would not be leaving because everyone is happy with the team’s current direction.

“Daniel Ogunmodede will continue as the club head coach,” Imiavan stated.

“It is confirmed. His three-year contract still runs until 2027. All parties are happy with the job he has done so far, culminating in the NPFL title.”

Ogunmodede’s continued leadership follows a historic season for Remo Stars, who became the first South-West team to win the league since Julius Berger’s victory in 2000 after winning their first NPFL title in April.

The coach has come to be associated with Remo Stars’ ascent through the Nigerian football hierarchy. He also acts as assistant manager for the Nigerian national team.

Following a stint in Portugal with CD Feirense, Ogunmodede returned to the team in 2022 and led the Ikenne-based team to consecutive second-place finishes before winning the league title in his third full season.
