Ofili, Chukwuma Headline Star-Studded 100m Line-Up at ATX Sprint Classic in Texas

Nigerian speedsters Favour Ofili and Rosemary Chukwuma have been confirmed for the highly anticipated 2025 ATX Sprint Classic, taking place this Saturday, June 28, at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.

The women’s 100m event promises fireworks as both athletes prepare to line up against some of the world’s most elite sprinters in what is shaping up to be one of the fastest fields of the season.

After making global headlines in May with her world record-breaking 15.85s in the 150m at the Adidas Atlanta City Games, Favour Ofili is set to return to the track with something to prove.

At just 22, Ofili is already one of Nigeria’s most accomplished sprinters. She holds the national 200m record (21.96s) and boasts a 2025 season-best of 10.94s in the 100m.

Known for her explosive starts and powerful finishes, the LSU alumna will look to make another statement in Texas as she builds momentum toward the World Championships in Tokyo.

Joining Ofili in Texas is the in-form Rosemary Chukwuma, who has been enjoying one of her strongest seasons yet. The 23-year-old clocked 11.03s at the Star Athletics Sprint Series in Florida earlier this month, a performance that sealed her qualification for the 2025 World Championships.

Chukwuma’s steady rise and recent results have solidified her role as a key figure in Nigeria’s sprint team. As she steps onto the ATX track, she’ll be aiming to continue her fine form against some of the toughest competition yet.

Ofili and Chukwuma will not have it easy. Among the high-profile names in the women’s 100m lineup is Olympic medallist Gabby Thomas, who comes in with a season-best of 11.00s.

Also competing is Aleia Hobbs, a consistent performer on the Diamond League circuit, and Kayla White, who doubles in the 200m with an impressive 22.01s season mark.

The field is deep, experienced, and blazing fast — a perfect stage for Nigeria’s finest to test their mettle.

While the women’s 100m takes center stage, fans can expect top-tier action across other events as well. In the men’s sprints, rising Bahamian star Terrence Jones, who has already clocked 9.91s this year, joins the field.

Also competing is Nigerian-American Elijah Godwin, a regular on the 400m circuit.

The hurdles events will feature elite names such as Christina Clemons, Rayniah Jones, and Michael Dickson, adding depth and intensity to the one-day meet.

With preliminary heats, finals in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and hurdles packed into a single-day format, the 2025 ATX Sprint Classic is more than just a meet — it’s a celebration of speed.

For Favour Ofili and Rosemary Chukwuma, it’s another chance to carry Nigeria’s flag high on the international stage. And for sprint fans, it’s a race day not to be missed.
