NWFL Super Six: Bayelsa go top after defeat of Remo Stars Ladies, Edo and Rivers Queens win on Match-Day Three

Match-day three of the 2025 Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership Super Six saw Bayelsa Queens end Remo Stars Ladies winning run by beating them 2-0 at their home turf in Ikenne.

Defending champions, Edo Queens also recorded their first win of the competition, while Nasarawa Amazons got a slender win against Rivers Angels

In the early kick-off match, Edo Queens defeated Naija Ratels 2-0. The Benin Arsenals had not won a game ahead of their clash with Naija Ratels, and scored two goals in as many minutes as Emem Essien bagged a brace in the 20th and 22nd minutes to put the defending champions in full control.

Naija Ratels tried to get back into the game however couldn’t find a way past the stingy Benin Arsenal’s defence.

Naija Ratels remain bottom of the table without a point, while the defending champions got their first points.

The second match of the day saw Nasarawa Amazons defeat Rivers Angels 2-1.

Teen sensation, Jenat Akekeromowei’s brace in the 24th and 30th minutes set Nassarawa Amazons to victory as well as register her third goal in three matches.

Rivers Angels pulled one back through a fine free kick by Catherine Kenneth in the 79th minute, but it was not enough to prevent their second defeat of the playoffs.

Nasarawa now have seven points and remain unbeaten.

In the final match of the day, Bayelsa Queens defeated Remo Stars Ladies 2-0, and go top of the table.

The unbeaten Prosperity Ladies started opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Chinwe Akabike before Sefiat Idris added a second in the 25th minute.

The Remo Stars Ladies, who had won their opening two matches prior to the game against the Prosperity Ladies, struggled to create chances and could not recover from the early goals conceded.

The win moves Bayelsa to the top of the table ahead of Nasarawa on goal difference with both sides on seven points.

Remo Stars are third with six points, while Edo Queens climb to fourth with four points. Rivers Angels remain in fifth with one point, and Ratels sit last after losing all their three games.

There wont be games on Wednesday (today) as match-day four resumes on Thursday (tommorow) at the Remo Stars Stadium, with fixtures including Edo Queens against Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels versus Naija Ratels, and a potential title decider clash between Remo Stars Ladies and Nasarawa Amazons rounding up the fixtures for the day.
