Brighton & Hove Albion have secured the signing of Nigerian international goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie on a free transfer, with the 24-year-old set to officially join the Women’s Super League side on 1 July following the expiration of her contract with Paris FC.
Nnadozie, who has firmly established herself as Africa’s top goalkeeper and the Super Falcons’ undisputed number one, makes the switch to England after four outstanding seasons in French football.
During her time at Paris FC, she made 118 appearances and gained invaluable experience, including 16 UEFA Women’s Champions League outings between 2022 and 2025.
“I’m really excited to be joining this great club,” Nnadozie said following the announcement.
“Right from the beginning, when I heard about the opportunity with Brighton, I was interested. I’m happy to be here and looking forward to what lies ahead.”
Brighton manager Dario Vidosic hailed the signing, describing Nnadozie as a “talented and commanding” addition who will bring composure, leadership, and consistency to the defensive line.
“She’s a goalkeeper with a strong mentality and proven experience at the highest levels. We believe she will strengthen the squad as we build toward a competitive new season,” Vidosic added.
Nnadozie joined Paris FC from Nigerian club Rivers Angels in January 2020 and quickly rose to prominence in the French D1 Arkema league.
Her defining moment came in the 2025 Coupe de France Féminine final, where she saved two penalties to help Paris FC overcome Paris Saint-Germain and lift the trophy.
That performance, among many others, showcased her poise under pressure and big-match temperament.
Her stellar 2024 season earned her the D1 Arkema Goalkeeper of the Year award, making her the first African to receive the honour.
Throughout her time in France, she was consistently recognised as one of the top goalkeepers in Europe and was a multiple-time recipient of the CAF Female Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Internationally, Nnadozie has been a cornerstone for Nigeria since making her senior debut in 2018. She has earned 55 caps for the Super Falcons, featuring in the 2019 and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cups.
Her memorable penalty save against Canada at the 2023 tournament drew global acclaim and further solid
