Nigeria’s Super Falcons tame Lionesses of Cameroon in International Friendly

The Super Falcons of Nigeria earlier today, defeated the Lionesses of Cameroon two goals to nil, in an international friendly at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade scored under nineteen minutes through a penalty after being brought down in the box by the Cameroonian defence.

In the forty third minute, Ajibade coolly tapped in from a beautiful assist from the left flank by Babajide Omorinsola to record a brace, and keep the Falcons in comfortable position.

Although the Cameroonians put up a strong fight in the second half, the strong defense lead by Payne Antoinette and Isah Sikiratu was too strong to let any goals through.

The friendly game is a preparatory game especially for the Super Falcons of Nigeria ahead of their campaign at the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations set to commence next month, with Nigeria’s first game against Tunisia on the 6th of July.

For the Lionesses of Cameroon, they unfortunately did not qualify for the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, however they will have their mind geared up for the second round of qualifiers of the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations later this year. The 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations would also serve as qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027 in Brazil
