Newcastle United have stepped up their pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, as they look to beat Premier League rivals Manchester United to his signature.
According to Sky Germany, the Magpies have submitted a revised offer worth £69.7 million (€80 million) in a fixed fee, plus additional performance-related bonuses.
This follows their initial proposal of £65.3 million (€75 million) plus £4.36 million (€5 million) in add-ons.
With Callum Wilson departing the club at the end of his contract and growing uncertainty surrounding Alexander Isak’s future, Newcastle are actively searching for a new lead striker.
Isak has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League champions Liverpool, who have already had an offer turned down.
Manchester United remain in the mix for Sesko and have reportedly held talks with Leipzig over the structure of a potential deal, though no agreement has been reached.
The 22-year-old Slovenian international has not yet decided on his preferred destination, having previously come close to joining Arsenal earlier in the summer before that move collapsed.
Sesko is regarded as one of the most promising young strikers in Europe, and a decision on his future is expected to be made in the coming days as interest intensifies.
