France forward Kylian Mbappé has withdrawn from the national team camp and returned to Madrid after developing inflammation in his right ankle, team officials confirmed on Friday.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also reported the development, stating, “Kylian Mbappé leaves France camp and returns to Madrid due to inflammation in his right ankle.”
The full extent of the injury has not yet been determined, and it remains unclear whether the issue will affect Mbappé’s availability for Real Madrid’s upcoming matches.
Mbappé, 26, had scored twice in France’s 4–0 World Cup qualifying win over Ukraine, but discomfort afterward prompted medical checks and the decision for him to return to Spain.
France will continue their training camp without their star forward, while Real Madrid’s medical staff will assess his recovery in the coming days.
It earlier reported that Mbappé played down his recent milestone of reaching 400 career goals, insisting he is focused on achieving much bigger feats in football.
