Man City see off Bournemouth to go into FA Cup semi-final

Erling Haaland scores his 30th goal of the season

Manchester City’s hope of winning a trophy this season is still alive, as they came from behind against Bournemouth to set up an FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.

Bournemouthed through a scrambled finish from attacker, Evanilson, to put Bournemouth ahead at half-time to leave Pep Guardiola and his boys facing the possibility of ending a season without a trophy for the very first time since the 2016-2017 season.

Erling Haaland also had a penalty saved in the first time by former Chelsea keeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga and also wasted opportunities aplenty, just as City struggled to hit top gear amid Bournemouth being solid at the back.

Omar Marmoush scores the winner for Man City

However, Pep Guardiola sent on academy graduate, Nico O’Reilly on for Khusanov, and just four minutes into the second half, O’Reilly gave a beautiful cross to Erling Haaland at the far post to turn it in.

O’Reilly yet again was important in the second goal. Omar Marmoush, on for the injured Haaland, was played in by the academy graduate, and his tame finish found a way to go beyond Kepa who could have done better with his angles.

The FA Cup quarter-finals has now been concluded with some games ending in drama. Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, and Manchester City are now through to the semi-finals. Fans will now be eagerly awaiting the blockbuster clashes at Wembley Stadium in late April. The Semi-finals are:
