Manchester City are reportedly preparing to hijack Manchester United’s pursuit of Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.
According to ESPN, Brighton have placed a hefty £104 million (€120m) valuation on the 21-year-old, as they look to fend off interest from top clubs.
Earlier this week, United made contact through intermediaries to explore the terms of a possible deal, having identified Baleba as their primary target for the defensive midfield role.
Initial estimates suggested a £90m fee plus £10m in add-ons, but the Seagulls are holding firm on their higher asking price.
City have now entered the race, with Pep Guardiola understood to be a long-time admirer of the Cameroonian international.
Despite the growing interest, Brighton are keen to keep Baleba at the Amex Stadium for at least another season.
