Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth in a deal worth £40 million, taking their summer transfer spending to approximately £170 million.
The 21-year-old has penned a five-year contract at Anfield, becoming the Reds’ third major acquisition of the window following the high-profile arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. Wirtz, a German international, joined for a club-record fee of £116 million (including potential add-ons), while Dutch right-back Frimpong arrived for £29.5 million.
Liverpool also secured the signing of Hungary U21 goalkeeper Armin Pecsi for up to £1.5 million, and Georgia international goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to follow this summer from Valencia in a previously agreed £25 million deal.
Kerkez expressed excitement about joining the club. “It’s a real honour for me, a privilege to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world — the biggest in England.
I’m really happy and excited,” he said. “After this, I’ll go home, enjoy a few days in my hometown, and then I can’t wait to get back, put on the training kit, and prepare for the season.”
Kerkez, who began his professional journey with AC Milan after being personally contacted by club legend Paolo Maldini, never made a competitive appearance for the Rossoneri.
He moved on to AZ Alkmaar, where his reputation grew, before Bournemouth signed him in July 2023. That gamble paid off, with Kerkez quickly becoming a standout performer.

He featured in all 38 Premier League matches in the 2024–25 season and was central to Bournemouth’s record-breaking campaign, which saw them finish in the top half of the table with 56 points.
The young left-back excelled in manager Andoni Iraola’s high-pressing system, ranking among the league’s best for distance covered, sprints, and open-play crosses.
He recorded two goals and six assists and was widely praised for his performance against Manchester City in November, where he registered both assists in a 2–1 win.
Liverpool’s interest reflects their intent to strengthen the left side of defence, with Andy Robertson now 31 and reportedly attracting interest from Atletico Madrid.
While Robertson remains a fan favourite and proven winner, Kerkez outperformed him in several key metrics last season. His arrival could signal changes in Liverpool’s defensive setup, potentially pushing Robertson or second-choice left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas toward an exit.

Off the pitch, Kerkez has also made an impression. Known for his lively personality and ever-changing hairstyles, he’s formed strong friendships with teammates, including Justin Kluivert and Adam Smith.
His charismatic presence and work ethic made him a favourite in the Bournemouth dressing room — qualities Liverpool will now look to harness.
With a new chapter ahead at one of Europe’s most storied clubs, Kerkez has the opportunity to firmly establish himself as one of the Premier League’s premier full-backs.
Four years after joining AC Milan as a teenage prospect, he now returns to the elite stage — and this time, the spotlight is firmly on him.
