Liverpool are reportedly preparing a sensational move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, with the club willing to break their transfer record for the second time this summer.
The Reds have already splashed £116 million on German midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, marking their biggest-ever transfer outlay.
They have also secured the services of right-back Jeremie Frimpong—also from Leverkusen—and Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez as part of a major squad overhaul.
However, Liverpool’s recruitment drive appears far from over, with Isak now emerging as a top target.
The Sweden international would cost well over £125 million—a figure that would not only surpass Liverpool’s record fee for Wirtz but also set a new British transfer record.
Liverpool are said to be ready to open talks if they receive any indication from Newcastle that a deal could be possible.
Newcastle, however, remain firm in their stance that Isak is not for sale.
The club is keen to tie the 24-year-old down to an improved deal beyond his current £120,000-per-week contract in a bid to fend off interest.
Isak is currently with the Newcastle squad at a pre-season training camp in Austria.
