The Lagos State Football Association (Lagos FA), led by Chairman Hajji Gafar Olawale Liameed, has showered praise on Super Falcons stars Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Folashade Ijamilusi following Nigeria’s recent victory at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Speaking on behalf of the board, Hajji Liameed described the Super Falcons’ success as a shining example of the resilience and determination of the Nigerian spirit.
In particular, he lauded the impact of three standout players who trace their football roots back to Lagos State; six-time African Women’s Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala, current Super Falcons captain and WAFCON Most Valuable Player Rasheedat Ajibade, and rising sensation Folashade Ijamilusi.
“The Lagos State Football Association, alongside our stakeholders and investors, is extremely proud of your remarkable performance at the WAFCON championship,” Liameed stated.
“We also extend our sincere appreciation to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, whose administration continues to provide a fertile ground for the growth of sports and youth development through the impactful T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda.”

He further reiterated Lagos FA’s unwavering commitment to grassroots football, particularly in empowering the girl-child through the sport.
“We remain dedicated to discovering and nurturing the next generation of football talents. We believe many future stars, just like Oshoala, Ajibade, and Ijamilusi, are waiting to be found and guided onto the world stage.”
Special commendation was also given to Coach Emmanuel Osahon, founder of Robo Queens Football Club, for his invaluable contribution to Nigerian women’s football.
Osahon is credited with playing a major role in the early development of the three celebrated players.
“Your efforts have produced not just players, but generational icons,” Liameed said. “Your legacy is deeply felt in every success story of these amazing athletes.”
The Lagos FA reaffirmed its stance to remain a powerhouse in Nigerian football and a champion of female participation in the sport, promising continued innovation and investment to keep talent thriving in the state.
