France national team captain Kylian Mbappe has been overlooked by head coach, Didier Deschamps amidst his struggles at Real Madrid.
His omission comes at the back of an abysmal performance in the UCL as Real Madrid lost 3-1 at home to AC Milan with his display drawing scathing assessment from Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Head coach Didier Deschamps revealed that although his captain gave the green light to be included in the November squad list but he decided that it would be better if he is not listed after missing the last international duty due to a ‘claimed fitness issue’ although he went on to play in Los Blancos game during that spell much to the provocation of his national team gaffer.
Kylian Mbappe will now miss the UEFA Nations League game against Italy and Israel.
While addressing the press on Thursday, Deschamps said he had made a “one-off decision” on his inclusion despite not injured; “It’s my responsibility to make decisions. I think it’s better that way”.
“What I can tell you are these two things; one, that Kylian wanted to come. And two, it’s not the extra sporting problems that come into play since the presumption of innocence exists and must exist”, he explained that his decision wasn’t based on the alleged scandal in Sweden.
“It’s a one-off choice for this gathering.”
Mbappe who haven’t had a smooth ride at Real Madrid will be gutted to miss out of this international duty but this will come handy for him to regain his form ahead of the run of games coming up for Los Blancos.
