Kundananji Confident as Zambia Prepare for Quarter-Final Clash with Nigeria

Zambia forward Rachel Kundananji says the Copper Queens are fully prepared for their quarter-final showdown against the Super Falcons of Nigeria at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Zambia, who finished second in Group A, will face Group B winners Nigeria at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Friday.

Led by head coach Nora Häuptle, the Zambians have impressed with their attacking flair and remain unbeaten in the tournament, having recorded two wins and one draw in the group stage.

Kundananji, who plays her club football with Bay FC in the United States’ NWSL, has been a standout performer for the Copper Queens, netting three goals and earning two Woman of the Match awards so far.

Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated clash, the in-form striker expressed confidence in her team’s ability to compete with the nine-time champions.

“We wanted to top the group, but unfortunately, we didn’t score enough goals,” Kundananji told FAZ Media. “That said, we’re not bothered by our position — we’re focused on the bigger goal. We’re ready and not afraid of facing Nigeria.”
