Victor Boniface will be unable to participate further this year for Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen due to an injury.
The player sustained a muscle fibre tear in his thigh while representing Nigeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Rwanda on Monday.
Since his return to Germany, the 23-year-old has not engaged in training sessions with his Bayer Leverkusen teammates.
He is anticipated to make a return to the field early next year.
Reports indicate that Boniface was previously out of action for approximately three months last season due to an adductor injury.
This season, he has netted eight goals in 15 appearances across all competitions for Die Werkself.
