Super Falcons forward Chiwendu Ihezuo is in contention for the top scorer award at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
According to reports, Ihezuo, who plies her trade with Mexican side Pachuca, has netted two goals in three appearances for Nigeria at the tournament.
However, the 26-year-old faces stiff competition in the race for the Golden Boot.
Morocco captain Ghizlane Chebbak and Senegal’s Nguenar Ndiaye currently top the scoring chart with four goals each.
Zambia’s formidable attacking pair, Barbara Banda and Rachel Kundananji, follow closely with three goals apiece.
Also on two goals are Senegal’s Mama Diop, Ghana’s Alice Kusi, and Yasmine Mrabet of Morocco, all keeping the race for the tournament’s top scorer wide open heading into the knockout rounds.
