Fulham Bans Dressing Room Social Media Content, Iwobi Confirms End to Behind-the-Scenes Posts

Premier League side Fulham has placed a ban on behind-the-scenes dressing room content being shared on social media platforms, with Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi confirming that the new policy has brought an end to his popular Snapchat updates.

Iwobi, known for giving fans exclusive access to the team’s private moments through his candid social media posts, revealed the club’s decision in a video shared on his official Snapchat account on Wednesday. He explained that Fulham’s media team had intervened and told him his content was not aligned with the club’s standards.

“For those that are wondering why I’ve been snapping BTS in the changing room, there’s one person in the media team that’s been saying I haven’t been capturing the right stuff. So there’s no more BTS,” the 28-year-old said.

He also disclosed that the club warned of possible financial penalties for any further breach of the new rule. “They also said I might get fined if I continue to do so,” Iwobi added. “They’re trying to ban snap in our changing room.”

Expressing his disappointment, the Super Eagles star acknowledged that his behind-the-scenes footage had become a fan favourite, offering a rare, personal look into team dynamics, locker room camaraderie, and players’ personalities. “It’s a shame, man. I know you guys enjoy seeing what my teammates are like behind the scenes, but I have to respect the rules,” he concluded.

Iwobi’s engaging content — often showcasing pre-match rituals, post-game reactions, and banter with teammates — had set him apart on social media since his arrival at the West London club.

However, Fulham’s move reflects a growing trend among top football clubs to tighten control over player-generated content from private team spaces.

Clubs are increasingly cautious about the risks of such content, which may inadvertently reveal tactical details, sensitive player interactions, or footage that could be misinterpreted or exploited by opponents and media.

While the restriction may come as a disappointment to fans who enjoyed Iwobi’s unique insights, it highlights the balance modern players must strike between personal expression and professional responsibility in the digital age.
