Portuguese club Famalicão have completed the signing of Nigerian forward Umar Abubakar.
The 19-year-old joins from Nigerian academy Footwork FC and has signed a five-year contract with the Primeira Liga side, managed by Hugo Oliviera.
Famalicão paid €800,000 to secure the highly-rated striker, who impressed during a loan spell last season at Belgian second division side Jong Gent. Abubakar netted 21 goals in 27 appearances, playing a crucial role in the club’s promotion to the Belgian Challenger Pro League.
Despite his standout performances, Jong Gent opted not to make his move permanent, opening the door for other European suitors. Abubakar, however, chose to join Famalicão, where he is expected to continue his development and compete at a higher level.
