Chelsea Football Club have announced the return of Portuguese forward Joao Felix to the club but this time on a permanent purchase from Atletico Madrid after series of prolonged negotiations for the La Liga outfit record signing.
Joining for a fee of £42.7million, Joao Felix becomes the ninth acquisition of Enzo Maresca’s reigning, putting pen to paper on a six-year contact and also with the option of a further 12 months if both parties agrees to an extension.
This is his second spell with the 2012 Champions League winning side following a six-month loan spell at Stamford bridge during the 2022-23 season under former Brighton’s boss Graham Potter.
The 24-year-old spent the previous season on loan at Barcelona, contributing significantly with 10 goals and 6 assists. His move to Cobham comes in the wake of Conor Gallagher’s departure to Barcelona for a fee of £34 million although it was reportedly a separate deal and not a player exchange with cash addition.
“I’m really happy to be back at Chelsea and I can’t wait to get started”, he said in his pressers with the club media.
“I can see some familiar faces from the last time I was here, which is always nice.’
“I loved my time here before and I told my friends and family that I’d love to return to the Premier League one day,’ Felix added. ‘To do that with Chelsea is a great feeling and I’m excited to be back”.
Felix would be hoping to have an illustrious spell with Chelsea this time around after notching only four goals in 20 appearances last time out.
