Liverpool went from fry pan to fire,as they suffered a second successive defeat in a week to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.
Newcastle lifted their first trophy in 56 years, defeating Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley, to compound the Reds woes.Goals from Daniel Burn and Alexander Isak, gave Newcastle the lead until rarely seen Federico Chiesa gave Liverpool some form of consolation.
Liverpool will now seek to move on quickly to focus on the Premier League, the only trophy they can win this season. They will be facing city rivals, Everton up next in the Premier League.
For Newcastle, they are still in the race to qualify for the Champions League, as they sit in 6th on the log. They play Brentford up next.
