African football governing body, CAF has released that the Disciplinary Board for investigation is set to take a proper look into the ongoing rift between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Libya.
The Super Eagles were reportedly treated unjustly and abandoned at the airport by the Libya government after the team arrived for the second leg of the ongoing 2025 Morocco AFCON qualifiers.
This action is in wake of Libya claims of Nigeria’s unproper treatment when they came to the country for the first leg of the qualifiers which the home team won 1-0 in Uyo.
Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa who didn’t travel with the team condemned the Libyans actions as well as sharing in the discomfort of his other teammates.
CAF have decided not to make any decision without proper investigation revealed today;
“The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) has been in contact with the Libyan and Nigerian authorities after it had been informed that the Nigerian National Football Team (‘’Super Eagles’’) and their technical team were stranded in disturbing conditions for several hours at an airport that they were allegedly instructed to land by the Libyan authorities”.
“The matter has been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board for investigation and appropriate action will be taken against those who violated the CAF Statutes and Regulations”.
With the NFF and players making their feelings know that they wont play the game, it remains unknown what the final decision would be especially with the involvement of CAF in the ongoing saga.
