Brazil part ways with Coach Dorival Jr after Argentina thrashing

Brazil are currently 10 points behind Argentina in the CONMEBOL qualifiers for the World Cup

Brazil have dismissed coach Dorival Junior after being well beaten 4-1 by arch-rivals, Argentina in a World Cup Qualifying game.

They currently sit fourth in the South America qualifying group. They have won six and lost five of 14 games, and are currently 10 points behind Argentina.

The 62-year-old, who has managed a host of Brazilian clubs, had been in charge of the national team since January 2024.

His first match was a win over England at Wembley in a friendly last March. He went on to win seven games, draw six and lose three of his 16 games in charge.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced his exit after they were well beaten by Argentina, who have already sealed their place at the World Cup.

A statement from the CBF read “The board wishes him success in his continued career. From now on, the CBF will work to find a replacement,”

Rumours in Brazil suggests Al-Hilal coach Jorge Jesus or current Real Madrid Coach, Carlo Ancelotti are favorites for the Brazil job.
