Armando Broja Leaves Chelsea for Burnley on Five-Year Deal

Armando Broja has ended his long association with Chelsea to join newly promoted Burnley on a five-year contract, the club announced on Friday.

While the transfer fee was not disclosed, British media reports suggest Burnley will pay Chelsea an initial £10 million ($13.4 million), with a further £5 million ($6.7 million) in potential add-ons.

Broja joined Chelsea’s academy from Tottenham at the age of eight in 2009, progressing through the youth ranks to make 38 senior appearances and score nine goals.

The England-born striker, who represents Albania internationally, spent much of his Chelsea career on loan, with spells at Southampton, Fulham, and most recently Everton.

Everton opted not to make his loan move permanent, and with Chelsea adding forwards Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer, the 23-year-old has decided to seek a new challenge.

“I am really excited to be here as a Burnley player,” Broja said. “It’s a really positive time to be joining this club ahead of the start of the new Premier League season. I can’t wait to get going.

I’m feeling good, I’m ready, and I’m excited about the challenge of playing for this club. I can tell you all that I will be giving my all every time I pull on the famous claret shirt.”

Burnley, preparing for their return to the Premier League, have also strengthened their squad with the signings of Bashir Humphreys and Lesley Ugochukwu.
