With just 24 hours to go before the much-anticipated Amazons 2.0 Tennis Tournament, organisers took a significant step in strengthening ties by paying a courtesy visit to the President of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Mr. Adeyem Adewusi.
The meeting, held at the historic Lagos Lawn Tennis Club in Onikan, set the tone for what promises to be a remarkable celebration of women’s tennis. Mr. Adewusi expressed genuine delight at the recognition of his contributions to the growth of tennis in Nigeria, particularly in advancing the women’s game.
He commended the organisers for putting together what is now regarded as the largest women’s tennis gathering in Africa, encouraging them to sustain the momentum and continue raising the bar. Reaffirming the club’s commitment, he assured them of continuous support in hosting and promoting the tournament.
In a show of goodwill, Mr. Adewusi presented branded items to all contestants—items that will be officially distributed on the day of the event.
Now firmly established as the home of the Amazons tournament, the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club will host the competition for the second consecutive year. This year’s edition is expected to attract over 130 players and more than 2,000 spectators, further cementing its growing reputation on the African tennis scene.
Mr. Adewusi also confirmed that the club is fully prepared to welcome both players and fans, promising a seamless and memorable experience for all attendees.
