Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade and defender Ashleigh Plumptre have been included in the Group Stage Best XI of the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Both players have been instrumental in Nigeria’s strong start to the tournament, helping the team finish top of their group with impressive performances.
Plumptre, who featured in Nigeria’s opening two matches against Tunisia and Botswana, stood out for her calm presence and defensive solidity at the back.
Ajibade, meanwhile, has been a driving force in midfield, featuring in all three group-stage matches. The 25-year-old has consistently linked play between midfield and attack, and was named Woman of the Match in Nigeria’s narrow 1-0 win over Botswana.
The Super Falcons will now turn their attention to the quarter-finals, where they are set to face the Copper Queens of Zambia.
The match will take place at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca on Friday, with kick-off scheduled for 5 p.m. Nigerian time.
