‘I Am Not Worried,’ Under-Pressure Slot Insists After Liverpool’s Humiliating Defeat to PSV

Liverpool manager Arne Slot says he remains unfazed about his future despite intense scrutiny following a heavy 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The loss which was Liverpool’s ninth in their last 12 matches across all competitions, has plunged the reigning Premier League champions into a full-blown crisis, with performances dipping sharply and confidence eroding.

Speaking after the match, Slot admitted the severity of the situation but dismissed concerns over his job security.

“I am not worried. My focus is on other things than worrying about my own position. I need to do better, I know that,” he said.

“I speak to the Liverpool hierarchy — we have those talks — but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to tell me that they trust me! We do have normal conversations, and I feel the trust. I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet, so let’s see!”

Slot described the result as surprising given the quality within his squad.

“This is very unexpected if you look at the quality that we have. Is it a lack of confidence? I didn’t see that in the first half. It’s not the mentality that these players have shown so many times since I’m here,” he added.

The Dutchman, who took over from Jürgen Klopp in the summer, now faces the toughest stretch of his Liverpool tenure as the club struggles both domestically and in Europe.
