Galatasaray Issue Injury Update on Victor Osimhen After World Cup Qualifier

Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have confirmed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has suffered a moderate hamstring strain following Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff final against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday night.

Osimhen, who started the match for the Super Eagles, was forced off at half-time and replaced by Jerome Adams Akor. After returning to Turkey, the forward underwent an MRI scan to determine the extent of the damage.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, Galatasaray revealed the scan results:

“In the MRI examination performed today at our sponsor hospital Acıbadem, our football player Victor Osimhen was found to have a moderate level of strain and bleeding in his left posterior muscle. Treatment has been started.”

The injury means Osimhen is now expected to miss Galatasaray’s upcoming league fixture against Gençlerbirliği on Saturday, dealing a temporary blow to the club’s attacking options.

Galatasaray will continue to monitor his progress as he begins rehabilitation.
