Premier League Giants Set to Battle for Semenyo as £65m Release Clause Activates in January

Premier League clubs are gearing up for a major transfer tussle in January, as Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo becomes available for £65 million once his release clause officially activates.

According to Sky Sports, the clause, structured as £60 million plus £5 million in add-ons, will only be valid for a limited window during the upcoming winter transfer period.

The clause was inserted into the five-year contract Semenyo signed with Bournemouth last summer. Before committing to the Cherries, several clubs had already made enquiries about the Ghanaian attacker.

Now, top-flight rivals including Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur are expected to move for the 25-year-old next year, as his market value continues to rise.

Semenyo has already netted six Premier League goals this season, reinforcing his status as one of the league’s emerging attacking talents.

Should Bournemouth agree to a sale, Semenyo’s former club Bristol City stand to benefit significantly—they are entitled to 20% of any profit made on the player, who left them for around £10 million in January 2023.

With the clock ticking toward January, the battle for Semenyo’s signature is shaping up to be one of the standout transfer stories of the winter window.
