FC Barcelona will make their long-awaited return to the newly renovated Spotify Camp Nou this week, with Athletic Club confirmed as the first opponents at the upgraded stadium.
The Catalan giants have been away from their iconic home for more than a year due to extensive reconstruction under the Espai Barça project, during which they hosted matches at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who shared an update on X on Monday, “Barcelona will make their long-awaited return this week, with Athletic Club as the first visitors at the upgraded stadium.”
The reopening signals a historic moment for the club and its supporters, who will finally get to experience the modernised, expanded Camp Nou. The match against Athletic Club is expected to be a sell-out, marking the official debut of the revamped stadium.
More details, including final preparations and planned pre-match activities, are expected to be announced by the club in the coming hours.
It was previously reported that Barcelona had initially planned to return to Camp Nou in August, but licensing delays forced the reopening to be pushed back.
