Falconets Cruise Past Benin to Maintain Perfect WAFU B Start

Nigeria’s Falconets continued their impressive form at the 2025 WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup, defeating Benin Republic 3–0 on Sunday at the Stade Adjanhou to record their second straight victory in the tournament.

Forward Ramotalahi Kareem once again stole the spotlight, scoring twice to lead the defending champions to another commanding performance.

The Falconets, who opened their title defence with a 3–1 win over Ghana, wasted little time asserting control as Kareem fired home the opener in the 15th minute after a well-executed team move.

Despite some determined moments from the hosts, Nigeria’s superior pace, technique, and movement proved too much to handle for the Amazones.

Kareem doubled Nigeria’s advantage in the 59th minute, calmly slotting past the Beninese goalkeeper to seal the result. Substitute Precious Oscar added a third deep into stoppage time, finishing off a quick counter-attack to complete a convincing 3–0 win.

For her brace and all-round brilliance, Kareem was named Player of the Match.

The result keeps Nigeria at the top of the standings, with two wins from two games and six goals scored. The team remains firm favourites to retain their regional crown as they aim for back-to-back WAFU B titles.

The Falconets will next face Ghana and Benin again on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, as the three-team tournament continues in Benin Republic.
