Villarreal have secured the services of Portuguese defender Renato Veiga from Chelsea in a club-record deal worth up to €29.5m, including add-ons.
The 21-year-old has penned a long-term contract running until 2032, tying him to the Spanish side for the next seven seasons.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the agreement involves a guaranteed €24.5m fee plus €5m in performance-related bonuses, while Chelsea have retained a significant sell-on clause.
“Renato Veiga signs in at Villarreal for €29.5m package, add-ons included, and a sell-on clause. Record signing for the Spanish club, deal done by his agent Nelson Veiga from MondoVictory and brokered by Ali Barat, from Epic Sports,” Romano wrote on X.
The move highlights Villarreal’s commitment to building for the future, with Veiga identified as a cornerstone of their long-term project.
Highly rated for his versatility and composure, the former Chelsea man can operate across defence and midfield, giving the Yellow Submarine added depth and tactical flexibility.
