Nigeria’s D’Tigers have bowed out of the 2025 Men’s AfroBasket Championship following a 91–75 quarter-final loss to Senegal at the Pavilhão Multiusos Arena in Luanda.
The Nigerians started brightly, edging the first quarter 24–23. But Senegal swung the momentum in the second quarter, outscoring D’Tigers 30–18 to take an 11-point halftime lead at 53–42.
Jean-Jacques Boissy was influential for Senegal, hitting 17 first-half points, while Ike Nwamu kept Nigeria in the contest with 14 points of his own.
Senegal tightened their grip in the third quarter, limiting D’Tigers to just 13 points while adding 23, stretching the advantage to 76–55.
Despite a late push in the final quarter, Nigeria couldn’t close the gap as Senegal sealed a 91–75 win to progress to the semi-finals.
It was a performance that showed flashes of promise for Nigeria, but costly turnovers and missed opportunities ultimately ended their run.
D’Tigers will now turn their focus to the Qatar 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers in November, where they have been drawn in Group C alongside Rwanda, Guinea, and Tunisia.
