Arsenal have been dealt a setback with Kai Havertz ruled out for an extended period after sustaining a knee injury, according to The Athletic.
The German midfielder, who featured in the second half of the Gunners’ 1-0 win at Manchester United last weekend, was absent from Wednesday’s open training session at the Emirates. The exact point at which Havertz picked up the injury remains unclear.
In response, Arsenal are exploring the transfer market for reinforcements to bolster their attack and provide depth.
New signing Viktor Gyokeres is now expected to lead the line when Mikel Arteta’s men face Leeds United in their second Premier League outing on Saturday.
The Swedish striker struggled to make an impact against United but will be eager to net his first competitive goal for the club in front of the home crowd.
