Reigning Serie A champions Napoli are reportedly weighing up a move for Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare as they look to replace the injured Romelu Lukaku.
Napoli boss Antonio Conte is in the market for a new leading forward after Lukaku was ruled out long term, and the club has shortlisted Arokodare alongside Manchester United youngster Rasmus Højlund as potential options.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the interest, stating “Napoli keep moving for new striker after Romelu Lukaku injury and today made contact with Tolu Arokodare’s camp.
He is valued at €20/25m by Genk after being top scorer last season in Belgium. Follows moves for Højlund on Monday as Napoli are exploring the strikers market.”
The 24-year-old enjoyed a standout 2024/25 campaign at Genk, finishing as the Belgian Pro League’s top scorer with 23 goals and seven assists in 45 appearances.
His form drew interest from several European clubs earlier in the summer, but no deal materialised.
Arokodare has already opened his account for the new season in Genk’s 2-1 defeat to Standard Liège, although he has largely started from the bench amid growing speculation about his future.
Genk manager Thorsten Fink hinted at an imminent departure, saying: “It’s money time for Tolu. The club simply has to sell.”
Should Napoli seal the move, Arokodare would be handed the opportunity to lead the line at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, a step that could elevate him into one of Europe’s most feared young strikers.
