Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has reportedly turned down the prospect of a Premier League return with Arsenal, insisting on staying in Serie A as he pushes for a move to Inter Milan.
The 27-year-old Nigerian is currently in a standoff with Atalanta, refusing to join their pre-season training camp in protest over the club’s refusal to sanction his transfer to the Nerazzurri.
Atalanta, winners of the 2024 UEFA Europa League, have already rejected two bids from Inter and are holding out for €50m — a valuation that has frustrated Lookman. While the Bergamo club is open to offers from abroad, the winger has shown no interest in leaving Italy.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, “Lookman is absolutely set on joining Inter. The Nerazzurri have had a full agreement with the Nigerian for some time.”
The report adds that Inter are not pursuing alternative attacking targets, partly to keep Lookman’s focus and to honour coach Cristian Chivu’s plans, which include adjusting the team’s formation to suit the former Leicester City star.
Meanwhile, tensions have escalated as Lookman has gone on an unauthorised vacation after Atalanta rejected Inter’s latest bid.
The club’s hierarchy, led by the Percassi family, is preparing legal action, which could result in a heavy fine.
Lookman has also refused to communicate with the club since leaving Italy.
