Team Nigeria continued its brilliant showing at the maiden African School Games in Algeria, racking up four medals on Day 2 of athletics, one gold, two silvers, and one bronze.
The girls’ 100m final stole the spotlight as Chigozie Rosemary Nwankwo blazed to gold in 11.76 seconds, closely followed by fellow Nigerian Miracle Ezechukwu who clocked 11.86 seconds to clinch silver.
Congo’s Ndoulou Boukama settled for bronze with a time of 12.19 seconds.
Jecinter Lawrence Andrew added another silver for Nigeria in the girls’ 400m final, showing great composure down the stretch.
In the boys’ 400m final, Faye Perfect delivered a strong finish to grab bronze and round off a solid medal haul for Team Nigeria on the track.
With these results, Nigeria’s athletics team now boasts six medals in total, underlining the country’s early dominance at the continental youth competition.
More finals are still to come, and Team Nigeria remains focused on adding to the tally as the Games progress.
