Atalanta Reject Inter Milan’s €45m Bid for Lookman

Atalanta have once again turned down an offer from Inter Milan for Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman, as the transfer saga continues between the two Serie A clubs.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Inter tabled a new proposal worth €42 million plus €3 million in add-ons, but Atalanta rejected the bid, sticking to their €50 million valuation of the player.

Lookman, who has already agreed personal terms with Inter, is reportedly eager to make the move to San Siro.

However, Atalanta remain firm, largely due to a sell-on clause owed to RB Leipzig, 10% of profit up to €20m and 15% on anything above that, stemming from his 2022 transfer.

While journalist Alfredo Pedullà hinted that Atalanta may consider a fixed €45m fee plus €5m in bonuses, Inter are believed to be unwilling to increase their offer.

As a result, Inter may now turn to alternative attacking targets, while Premier League clubs have also been alerted to the situation and the asking price.

Lookman was not included in Atalanta’s squad for their friendly against RB Leipzig on Saturday, with the club citing a minor calf injury and ongoing transfer talks as reasons for his absence.

The 27-year-old has been instrumental for Atalanta, scoring 52 goals in 118 appearances since joining from RB Leipzig for €10.8 million.

He famously netted a hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final and is the current African Footballer of the Year.

With less than a month left in the summer transfer window, the standoff continues over one of Serie A’s most sought-after forwards.
