Arsenal’s new signing, Viktor Gyokeres, has shattered the club’s shirt sales record just days after being officially unveiled, according to The Athletic.
The Swedish striker, who was introduced as a Gunners player last Saturday, has seen unprecedented demand for his No.14 jersey.
Although final retail figures are still being compiled, early sales data shows that Gyokeres has already outsold the likes of Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and club captain Martin Ødegaard.
Arsenal secured the 27-year-old’s services for an initial fee of €63.5 million, and he has since joined the squad on their pre-season tour of Asia.
The former Sporting CP forward was presented to fans at the Singapore National Stadium ahead of the Gunners’ friendly clash with Newcastle United, receiving a thunderous reception.
Much of the excitement surrounding Gyokeres has been fueled by his choice of shirt number.
With his preferred No.9 jersey already taken by Gabriel Jesus, the striker opted for the legendary No.14, famously worn by Arsenal icon and all-time leading scorer Thierry Henry.
The combination of his price tag, performances in Portugal, and symbolic shirt number has sparked immense anticipation among supporters as Gyokeres begins his chapter in North London.
